Activating God's Power in Your Body

Activating God's Power in Your Body
by Annette Capps

Speak and Act Your Faith

In order to activate God’s power in our bodies and in our lives, we must speak our faith and act our faith.

One of the biggest deceptions that the enemy has ever perpetrated upon the Body of Christ is, “If we believe in healing, we will be all right.”

It is not enough just to believe in healing. There are thousands of people who die every day who believe in healing! They believe in the miraculous healing power of God. But the enemy has caused them to substitute belief for action.

I was raised in a church that believed in divine healing. It was one of the doctrines of our denomination. When we joined the church, we signed a little card that said we believed in healing. The pastor believed in healing. When that denomination began, it was established upon the belief of the healing power of God and miracles. The reason they had to separate from other churches was because they believed in healing. But in the 18 years that I attended that church, I cannot remember one person being healed there! Isn’t that astounding? To attend a church that would fight over the fact that they believed in divine healing, yet not see anyone receive healing is a shame.

The Touch of Faith

There is a difference between believing in healing and appropriating that healing for your own body. Don’t get into a state of apathy because you believe in healing. Healing is something we must reach out in faith to obtain for ourselves.

The woman with the issue of blood did that very thing when she said, “If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.” We see faith speaking here. “And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.” She touched Jesus with faith!

“Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, ‘If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.’” (Mark 5:25-28)

“And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, ‘Who touched My clothes?’ But His disciples said to Him, ‘You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. And He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.’” (Mark 5:30-34)

These people had all heard about Jesus’ healing power and those who had been delivered and set free. They crowded around, pushing, shoving, and touching Him. As Jesus was being pushed along by the crowd, He said, “Who touched Me?”

His disciples were amazed and said, “What do You mean, who touched You? Everyone is touching You!”

Many people today are crying out for healing, filling auditoriums, seeking the healing power of God. But it is the touch of faith that activates the power of God! The difference between that woman and those who just pressed around Jesus was this:

  1. She said, “I shall be whole.”
  2. She acted and her action of touching was the touch of faith.

Faith is what draws upon that healing power. This is the difference. This woman had heard the good report. Someone told her about healing and Jesus’ ministry. She chose to believe. She chose to leave her home and go out into the public to seek healing from Jesus. Then she activated God’s power by reaching out in faith and doing what she said by touching Jesus.

You may believe in healing, but in order to receive it into your body, that power must be activated by faith. But how do you do it? You start at the beginning.

You begin to say this right now: “I will receive the healing power into my body.” Say it now! “I will receive the healing power into my body.”

Now think about that for just a moment. You have made your decision, just as this woman in the Bible made her decision. Now you must act on that decision and move to the next step.

When Will You Receive?

This woman decided when she would be made whole. The intersecting point in physical time would be any physical contact with Jesus, even His clothes. So, she left her house to make that happen.

What will it take for you to be made whole? Only you and the Holy Spirit know the answer to that question, so ask Him! What must I do to be made whole?

What circumstances must align for your faith to be released? Is it going to the church for prayer? Do you need to have 2 or 3 gather and lay hands on you? Will a scripture need to “jump out at you”? Should you encourage yourself reading testimonies of healing? At what point will you believe you have already accepted wholeness?

Once you have released your faith and believe that you have received (past tense), it is important to mark that point in time as the moment that you were healed. This is important as it gives you a reference point. “I received healing at 8:01 a.m. on Friday, June 11, 2021.” Please notice that as of this point in time, you change what you say from, “I will be healed.” to “I have received healing.” If someone asks you how you are, consider finding one improvement and report that to satisfy their question.

Next comes the implementation into the physical body. Now here is something I want you to understand. Accepting healing and wholeness is split second in time. Getting the spiritual force into physical matter can be just as instantaneous, or you can begin to improve.

The ten men who were lepers accepted and received Jesus’ healing word as fact. But only as they began to walk in faith, did the physical manifestation of wholeness come to their flesh.

“When He saw them, He said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were [miraculously] healed and made clean.” (Luke 17:14 Amplified)

Only as they did something, walking in faith to show themselves as clean to the priest, did the signs of leprosy leave them.

The nobleman’s son was restored to health after his father accepted Jesus’ word and began to walk home in faith:

The nobleman said to Him, ‘Sir, come down before my child dies!’ Jesus said to him, ‘Go your way; your son lives.’ So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way. And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, ‘Your son lives!’ Then he inquired of them the hour when he got better. And they said to him, ‘Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.’ So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, ‘Your son lives.’ And he himself believed, and his whole household.” (John 4:49-53)

When you begin to amend, you start doing things that an improving person does. This young man probably started drinking and eating again. Then he began to sit up for short periods. Then he began to walk. There is a starting point of wholeness (receiving and believing it is done), then there is physical implementation of getting the power of God flowing through every cell of your body. The power of God flows to those cells like the power of the heart forces the blood to flow to the cells. The power of God is activated by you doing something. If you can only lift your finger, do something. If you can only wiggle your toes, do it in faith expecting more strength to come.

The Healing Force of God

Jesus had a crowd surrounding him, yet something different happened when the woman with the issue of blood touched Him. It says He knew in Himself that virtue had gone out of Him. What does that mean? Most people do not really know what that “virtue” is. It is power.

The virtue or power that flowed out of Jesus is a tangible force. It is a reality. It can be felt, (although it is not necessary to feel it). It is not mind over matter, Christian Science, or spiritualism. It is a force that is a heavenly materiality. It is a force that heals and sets free. We call it the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

“It shall come to pass in that day that his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck, and the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.(Isaiah 10:27)

This force is from God, and it was manifested because of Jesus Christ. Healing power is like the electricity in a room: It is dormant until someone goes over and flips the light switch, and then it flows and the lights come on. The force of electricity is in the walls of a room, hidden in the wires. It is unseen, but if you stick your finger into an electric outlet, you’ll find out that it is there! Similarly, the healing power of God, the virtue of Christ, is a tangible substance. It is not activated through the mental agreement. The woman with the issue of blood did not receive healing through an exercise of her mind, but through an exercise of her faith - and faith is born of the spirit.

Helping Others To Receive

Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them.” (Luke 5:17)

The power of the Lord that was present was strong enough to heal every person in that place! Continuing to read the rest of the chapter, we find that not one other person in the house was healed that day! Isn’t that sad?... “The power of the Lord was present to heal them,” the Bible says, yet only one man in the whole crowd received that power.

“Then behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, whom they sought to bring in and lay before Him. And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus. When He saw their faith, He said to him, ‘Man, your sins are forgiven you.’” (Luke 5:18-20)

I want you to notice something else here.

It says, “When He saw their faith.” Jesus took notice of the combined faith that was present in the man’s friends. This will be an encouragement to those of you who are believing for healing for someone else.

There is a time when people are not able to exercise faith on their own behalf. We as the Body of Christ can stand together and exercise our faith to draw upon the healing power of God for others. It is all too easy to say, “Well, they did not get healed because they didn’t have faith.”

There is power in agreement. We have the ability to lay hold of the healing power of God for each other. There are times when other people just aren’t able to receive it for themselves, and require encouragement and support.

This man’s friends so greatly desired to see him healed that they lowered him through the roof of a house. They manifested love and faith, believing if they could get him to Jesus, he would be healed. The sick, hurting bedfast individual allowed them to put him through a painful and embarrassing circumstance. That took faith on his part! His faith was rewarded when Jesus said, “Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.” The man obeyed Jesus’ command, “and departed to his own house, glorifying God.”

Gratitude and thanksgiving propels and moves the physical manifestation of wholeness forward and helps to maintain it.  Find something to reinforce your mind and thoughts with gratitude for whatever works well in your physical body. Think it, thank God for it, and say it out loud “I am grateful for every cell of my body that functions perfectly every day. I walk, move and function in wholeness in Jesus’ name!”

Activate God’s power in your body by receiving His Word, speaking the Word of healing, and acting out your faith!
